This friendship encouraged him to conduct workshops ,conferences and live demonstrations on spine surgery since 1991 till date. Contribution in the form of demonstrations of pedicle screw fixations in early 90s and the resultant teaching quality enabled him to start Fellowship programmes in spinal surgery in 2001 to train young neurosurgeons. Skill in microsurgical techniques and spinal instrumentation made him one among the complete Neuro spine surgeons in India. In spite of very active Neurosurgical practice in India he travels extensively sharing knowledge in Neuro spinal surgery and now focus on minimal access surgeries.

AWARDS & ACCOLADES : TEAM TECH – ANSYS ‘ Award of Excellence’ – 2004 , from Padmashri Prof. R.M.Vasagam, at International Conference on Total Engineering , Analysis and Manufacturing Technologies, Bangalore
LEADING SPINE SURGEON – recognition from Prof H. Michael Mayer and Synthes, at India Spine VISION 2007, Virtuoso Roundtable ,New Delhi 2006

Contribution to Neurotrauma :
*Dr JKBC .Parthiban has been involved in the activities of Neuro trauma since its inception as Neurotraumatology committee in 1992 and delivered his first presentation as a faculty on “Steffee Pedicle screw Plate fixation in spinal fractures” at Madurai in 1993. With this introduction he along with his senior Dr Subbarao was invited by the then office bearers ( Prof Sambasivan and Prof Ramani) to organise the 4th Neurotramatology Committee Conference at Cochin in 1995 and that became one of the best conferences ever at that time with the presence of Doyens of Neurosurgery In India viz: Professors BRM, Chandy, Mathai, Kalyanaraman, VK Kak, Mahapatra along with Prof Tetsuo Kanno. This meeting paved the way for the committee to become Association in the next few years and the growth of NTSI to present status.

*The landmark ‘ Lateral Mass Fixation in sub axial cervical spine in fracture management , in video format was introduced in 1995 and subsequently the same was published as a chapter in the Text book Operative Neurosurgery by BRM and Tandon. Subsequently the first Indian publication on the technique of Ventral screw fixation in odontoid fracture in Neurology India became popular. These presentations with live operative sessions and cadaver demonstrations on spinal fixations at various workshops and conferences helped in the spread of knowledge in Neurotrauma among young neurosurgeons in India in early 90s. Participated in the Neurotrauma society meetings at regular intervals and shared the scientific knowledge as a speaker and faculty particularly in the field of spinal injuries.

*NTSI/NSI meet on Guidelines formation TBI and review of Brain Trauma guidelines 4 (Represented NSI) at Agra NTSI meet in 2019

*The first Custom implant for cranial defects in head injury patient using Rapid Prototyping technology was presented way back in early 20s and that has paved the way for the recent 3D printed implants usage among Neurosurgeons. Many articles were written on this subject and were presented at various conferences. The social awareness of such technology in India was spread by giving lectures at various places in India

*Always looking forward to introducing and developing better and newer treatment modalities in Neuro Trauma and working on technique of ‘ Basal Cisternostomy ‘ in traumatic severe brain edema in recent days with scientific publications in Neurology India and World Neurosurgery and lectures, debates ,CMEs at various national and international meetings. Research and analysis in this area is still to be improved in India and we are working on that sincerely. Youtube videos on technique of Basal cisternostomy and other lectures are available for young and other neurosurgeons to follow

*During the tenure in WFNS Spine committee, consensus datas and research articles were published on cervical spine injury in recent years.

*Research papers on Stem cells in spinal cord injury

*Public awareness and lectures on ‘Brain Death ‘ at various regional colleges in Tamilnadu
